Another test pass

Congratulations to Daniel Eltringham on passing your driving test 1st time today at Sunderland Driving Test centre. It’s taken along time due to many Covid cancellations, but we’ve got there in the end. Only 3 minor driving faults… a cracking drive.

Well Done Emily

Despite all the upheaval this year… she’s passed her test 1st time, even after a 4week lockdown. Well done Emily Ord, all your hard work and dedication paid off. It’s been a real pleasure helping you along the way. Don’t forget to send me a pic of the new wheels 🚘🚖

2/11/20 What’s happening…Locked down again 😕

Unfortunately Driving Instructors have once again been locked down.

As England goes into lockdown from 5th Nov – 2nd December Driving Instructors are one of the industries that cannot work.

Today we were informed that all Driver & Rider training was suspended.

The last lockdown DVSA took no responsibility about Driving instructors, but this lockdown it’s been made official

Driving Tests are cancelled throughout this time, I will update regarding Theory Tests as soon as it’s confirmed. Please check your emails regularly for updates from DVSA regarding any tests you may have booked.

25/08/20 – Test booking available from 26/8/20 at 8am

After the last attempt to open the booking system didn’t really work that well, and the site crashing because it couldn’t handle the amount of people trying to book their test, the DVSA are once again going to try and open the booking system.

They have introduced a queuing system this time.

Fingers crossed it works everyone

21/08/20 Woohoo.. Driving test booking now open

It’s been a nightmare for many pupils who were ready to take their driving test, but unable to due to the DVSA keeping the booking lines closed until they caught up with the backlog.

From today bookings are open to everyone in England and Wales. However they are only booking up to 6 weeks in future at the moment.

Make sure your instructor is available thou before booking your test… you don’t want to book only to find your instructor already has other commitments 🙂

You can read a little more on the DVSA gov page.

14/8/20 – Emergency driving test applications close

The Online service to book emergency practical Driving tests or theory tests closed today 14/8/20. Although the DVSA will continue to provide dates for those candidates who have successfully applied for a driving test.

By doing this it will help the DVSA move forward towards opening up tests for new tests and re-tests.

19/5/20 – Driving tests during lockdown

At the minute, the DVSA are providing very misleading information regarding practical driving tests for cars. Towards the end of June some tests have been cancelled and others have not. The DVSA are stating tests are still happening in July too, and whilst they are hopeful, it’s highly unlikely.

One reason for this is, the very people you rely on to take you for test, your Driving Instructor, is not allowed to return to work until the 4th July (The last expected group to return) and even this is uncertain, and depends on how the ‘R’ rate is doing.

Even if Driving Instructors can get back to work on July 4th, they certainly won’t be allowed to present for driving test prior to that date, as it is currently illegal until lockdown is actually lifted. Unless it’s for ‘Key Workers’

After 4th July, it’s still highly unlikely you instructor will take you to test, as bear in mind there will have been no driving lessons for over 3 months, therefore pupils will be very rusty and should really brush up on their skills. It would be a recipe for disaster to present someone for test who haven’t been behind the wheel in such a long time.

Please don’t build your hopes up on any information the DVSA state about driving tests. Until the Instructors can legally return, the only way you’ll do your test is if you go in your own vehicle, once tests have been resumed.
